I have been lurking on the hedgie forums for several months now so I guess it's time to introduce myself. I'm Lisa and I am the shelter op for a ferret rescue. I have wanted a hedgie for a long time but did not know enough to take care of one. So after much reading and studying, I thought it time to find a hedgie which needed a home. There are no rescues within 300 miles that I could find. Sure wish there was since I thought that would be the best place to learn from. Anyway, here's the story of my first hedgie!
I got my first hedgie today! She's soooooooooooooo adorable! She's just over a year old. Actually, her rescuer is a member of this forum but I cannot remember her screen name. Sorry!
The poor baby was transported quite a distance so by the time she got home today she was NOT in a good mood. She was tired. So we put her in her new cage with some fresh water and food. When I tried to take her from the carrier and put her into her new cage, she prompty bit me and let me know she did not like being awakened yet again! I understand. I wake up a bit crabby too.
So after being placed in her new cage she drank quite a lot of water, ate some and snuggled up to sleep with her face buried in a corner of the cage underneath her wheel. When I went to check on her a few minutes ago, I was expecting to see her up and about playing. Nope. She found her igloo and buried into the pink blankie inside her igloo. So now I cannot even get pictures! I will try to get some later but I guess she needs to catch up on some lost sleep.
We've decided to name her EvaJean. I know it sounds crazy but 2 nights before I got her I dreamed of her. There were tiny little faeries all around her and they told me her name was EvaJean and she was actually a faerie! Yes, I have weird dreams but that one I'm not ignoring! LOL
Thanks for listening!
