So my chinchilla recently had tooth problems, and drooled all over his chin/belly/underside. He had his teeth filed, but his fur is still covered in drool, is yellow in color, and smells very bad. I've tried brushing it out, but he still smells. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the smell?

You can get some unscented baby wipes and try wiping him off with that. That should get the stickiness and droll out.

Perhaps a suggestion, have you gotten the chinchilla's saliva cultured to see if there may be an infection present? Last time I had a chin with tooth issues/smelly breath, it turned up being an infection in their mouth. Once treated with antibiotics it goes away if one gets to it quick enough. Just a thought. Good luck with your chin.

I found that after wiping down with the unscented wet wipes, that a roll in the dust helped with the smell. But also what lilchinchilla said is true..if there was/is an infection it makes their breath smell awful. How long has it been since the tooth problems started/got resolved?
