They are BEAUTIFUL- I'm in love with the colt! He looks super nice and well put together! You'll have to keep us updated on their training and racing once you get to that point!

I'd love to own (at least partly) a racehorse one day... but for now I have to settle for going to the track to just watch and take tons of pics. I have a TB/QH cross gelding, but nothing compares to well bred, full TB's.

Ann, everyone who sees his pics really likes his hind end...his hocks especially. ;-)

And his partnership buy-in isn't that pricey. We're all starving geeks involved, so 1% is $300 and then actual monthly expenses that run from about $5 (for 1%)when he was at pasture in January to around $35 when in full training at the track (includes meds, shoes, training, pony to post, feed, board, etc.).

I've done a lot to try and keep things relatively under control for expenses: right now it's negotiate with the farm for better rates. It means picking less expensive haulers and finding full loads to squeeze into when we ship to the track.

We're even (hubby and I) discussing buying a truck/gooseneck to haul in-state if they do well this summer and fuel stays reasonable as our trainer is not going to WA for the summer but to Golden Gate Fields. And as I have family in the area, we can park the rig there while they run. It means more control over their travel dates/arrival to the track. And I'm a bit of a freak about that.

Aww they're gorgeous! You'll definitely have to keep us posted on their progress :)

Thanks, everyone. Training for "Mark" has been slowed up some due to the crazy rainy weather we have been having. Not that bad a thing...just means I won't be going out next week (I think) with the video camera to catch him under saddle and on the training track.
