Mulch Hay

Almost every time I drive to work, I pass by a big cart with a sign that says "Mulch Hay $2.50/bale". I tried to look it up, but didn't get any clear answers. Does anybody know what mulch hay is and if it's good for chins? Thanks.

I think hay that's unsuitable for feeding (old, moldy or too many weeds) is called mulch hay.

oohhh, ok--thanks that cleared that up. I had a feeling it wouldn't be ok since it had the word mulch in it and it was cheap. Ah well...

People put that down in their flower beds...it's probably full of moldy stuff. As far as I know it's mostly straw. Don't feed it to the chins...
