Looking for any advice, tips, or tricks on moving with chinchillas... I have two boys (who live separately) and I want to make the transition as easy as possible. We are moving from our little apartment into a new house we just bought, with an extra playroom just for the boys!!! (They're going to LOVE it!) Luckily the drive is only 10 minutes across town - and we drive MUCH further for the vet - so that shouldn't be an issue. I just want to have a jump on how to move them so they aren't scared or stressed. Thoughts??

When I moved, I moved the chins first. Granted, I was moving into a house that was already lived in where I could move the chins and they could watch them while I moved everything else, but it made it much simpler. Took the cages and chins in one swoop, moved them, settled them in. Left them in the basement (where the rescue is), behind closed doors. The house was a nuthouse over the next few weeks as I rented trailers to move the rest of the stuff and we packed it all into spare rooms/closets elsewhere in the house. I did it first so that I'd know they were all settled and good and could concentrate on getting everything out before my lease ended (this was during a snowy winter, 2.5 hour drive move).

Good to know... I had no clue as to whether I should move them first or last. They had no issues transitioning into their new homes when I brought them home from a rescue shelter. So I'm hoping as long as they see us and know we're still around, the transition will go okay for them. There will be no changes to their homes, and furniture and whatnot that they usually see will still all be there (just in different places).

Since your pets won't be having trouble with the transition, it would be nice to move them with you.
