Hi all. As some of you know Tilly has had ongoing problem with both teeth overgrowth and misalignment. Her back tooth is basically growing sideways and rubbing on the inside of her mouth. Therefore, the vet has mentioned that the problem in her mouth is not due to her overgrowth but the misalignment. Is there anything i can do about the sore itself that is causing pain and drooling without getting them completely taken out or re filed every other month?

This is reoccuring now every two months or so. Has anyone had back tooth removals and had success? She only has an issue on one side.

Thanks : /

she should be on the tri meth sulfa is she has a sore, so it wont get infected.

one of richie's teeth fell out but i am not quite sure it was a back tooth.

She has had them in the past I'm not sure if it was the last time she had them done or the time before. The vet didn't mention any root issues.

I have done selective tooth removal-it does not work. The tooth that is removed leaves a space-the teeth on either side will tip into that space and cause issues with the occlusal surface-the tooth above or below will also grow up or down into that space-if that tooth is removed the teeth on either side will tip etc. Tooth removal on teeth that are not loose is a risky operation-the jaw or maxillae are frequently broken, the teeth are broken, parts of the tooth are left behind opening the door for infection of the bone. I have done just about every treatment for malo except apical clipping and root canals and on several chins, there is no long term "cure" other than filing. If the chin bounces back from a filing in a day or so and goes back to being chin like, then continue to file. If the chin does find relief after a filing then the owner needs the consider quality of life issues.
