can anything be done for a minor cut in the mouth. there was a small amount of blood, after applying a wet washcloth it stopped. he is already on pain & antibiotic meds for malo but i didnt know if anything could be put on the lip area. he is handfed and he took his food immediately after. it is hard to see where the cut is so i am not sure what i could even put on it?

I would just leave it alone and watch for infection. I would not feel comfortable applying blu-kote to the mouth. Most likely it will heal up just fine on its own.

he seems fine, it was so small that i couldnt even see it, musta been on the inside.
but just as a lesson for any new chin owners or anyone with not so smart fiance's or husbands..................my fiance threw his razor in the bathroom garbage and before i was able to empty it Richie dumped it over (because he smells the other two boys poo & if i wiped up their pee with a toilet paper) and he grabbed it and cut his lip that way.
ususally i throw my razor in the kitchen garbage or keep the bathroom empty because he dumps it every single time he is in there!
i just feel so bad because he has gone thru so, so much.

I guess the moral of this story is to make sure the bathroom is properly safe before allowing the chinchillas to run.

Since he dumps it every time, why not just remove the garbage before he runs in the bathroom?

Poor guy, I hope he feels better soon.

I take the trash bin out before I let Buddy run around. The one time I forgot, he tried to jump on the lip of the bin and ended up in the trash bin. I was in the bathroom when it happened and luckily, there was not much in there. Just able to laugh about it as it happened.

yes............lesson learned.
i do usually just empty it instead of removing it for 2 reasons:
1. it hides the part of the pipe that goes into the wall where they can chew

2. richie has so much fun trying to dump it, its like a little game to him, he actually crawls in there and hides or sometimes he pees in there. (there is no lid so he cant get trapped). and he is the only one to do this, the other two dont bother with it.

but as murphy's law would have it, the one time i didnt check before I was getting ready to handfeed him, was of course the one time he would get ahold of something!
