Mexican chinchilla?

The little 5 second teaser for the next ncis episode mentioned mexican chinchillas. What are they/how are they different? I had never heard of a 'mexican' chin

There is no chin native to Mexico. All chins are the same. They are native to South America.

saw the episode today. They were under cover as some kind of animal catcher type ppl or w/e (trying to convince landlord to let them in the apt.)
The one guy mentioned 'Mexican chinchillas breeding with rats and having very aggressive offspring'
Im not sure how to take it tho. It was half way between trying to appear serious and having no clue what hes talking about.

That doesn't even make sense, but I guess it doesn't matter. I don't think that chins and rats would have much luck making babies. It is interesting that the writers for that show would mention chins at all!

I was just a cover to get inside. Mention something the landlord has no clue about so he has to let you in to take care of the problem, rather than try to control it himself. If he's never heard of it you have a better chance of him letting you in.

I was pretty excited that they mentioned chinchillas at all.
