I have the CN cage. I've kept the original pans because Rocky never, ever chewed on plastic. Until today. Thank goodness she only nibbled a tiny corner I didn't notice was exposed.
I have fleece covers and they work fine but they're a pain to change (cage is in a corner of the room and it's hard to get the pans out).
I'd been debating getting metal pans but I've read some of the old posts and some people say the metal starts to smell unless you treat it.
I don't want to replace the pans with wood ledges, Rocky is 9 years old and seems to be more comfortable having the pans and ladders instead of ledges she needs to jump to.
What do you recommend? Stay with the fleece or get the metal pans?
Thanks!
Lee

No matter what you end up using you'll end up having to clean something. If you line the plastic trays in fleece, you still might get urine that soaks through. After time, the plastic will absorb that and I think its much harder to clean at that point.

If you get metal pans you have the option of using straight shavings or fleece liners. If you decide to use shavings and after some time, get a stained spot you can always clean it with a bleach or vinegar solution. I do both and don't have issues with the smell.
