My new little cockatiel boy came home today and I couldn't be happier! I fell in love with him the minute I laid eyes on him and I'm just so excited to finally have him home with me!
For those of you who are not up-to-date on how I came to find my little birdie man, you can check it out here: http://www.chins-n-hedgies.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2128. But, don't worry, I'll give you the run-down here as well...
My new little man is a white-faced cinnamon cockatiel. He hatched on 6/27/08 and was hand-fed and is tame. He is very sweet, but I can already tell that he has a mischevious side. I visited him quite a bit and spent time with him and his breeder over the last week so I feel confident that I'm on the right track with being a new bird owner. I can't believe it! Me! I'm a bird owner! And I'm the luckiest, and happiest, bird owner ever!
So...without further ado...here's Duncan!
Isn't he as cute as can be?! From the first time I met him, I knew that his name was Duncan. It just suits him and his personality perfectly. And, trust me, he's full of personality! He is such a friendly littler bugger, but I have a feeling he'll test my patience to see what he can get away with. He is tame, though, and that is a definite plus -- especially since my experience with birds prior to purchasing him is essentially nil. Thankfully I have the breeder on speed-dial and we've become fast friends in the last couple of weeks so I know she's available should any questions or concerns arise. But, so far so good...we're getting on well together and I'm confident that our relationship will only continue to strengthen and grow...
I've only snapped a few pictures so you'll need to wait for updates, but I couldn't resist taking just a couple pics -- he's just so darn cute...and photogenic too! He's settled in okay and I'm trying to let him be so that he can acclimate, but it's hard since I want to peek in on him every three-and-a-half seconds. I have my nerves still, but I think in time it'll only get better. And I'm just so grateful that my fear of birds has been removed because otherwise I'd never have even dreamed of adding Duncan to my life -- and he certainly has added so much to my life...even in just the short time he's been in it. I'm one lucky girl and so are all of you since you get to see his pretty face!
