My fatty finally has a name - Bessie! And here are some pictures of the fat goodness that is she!

So enormous! Both chins like hiding under that shelf in the bathroom...

OH HI!

And last night, I woke up a couple times because I heard Bessie chomping HARD on something. I woke up this morning and saw that her hidey hut had been partially decimated!

Yay kindling!

It's hard to see, but she seemed to only chew the edges. Weirdo.

And two videos... one of her being grumpy, the other of the chewed up house.

Introduced to Bessie! And her chewed up house. :D

I wanted to show you guys how much she grunts and barks, and I found that she does it most when I'm on the side of the cage. She's such a creep. She literally does this EVERY TIME I come near the cage.

She is a big beautiful girl...shhh...don't say "fat" you will lower her self esteem!

LOL She is certainly giving your an earful. :hilarious:
She is lovely - I have a soft spot for big, saggy female chinnies.

LOL Ash you're "so cool"! you kept saying that in the video and it made me laugh! Bessie is a cutie, you could have named her Laurie as I'm a fatty too lol! When I got the daybeds for everyone the first thing they did was chomp on them. They LOVE fresh wood! How cares if it's supposed to be their house or bed ha!

Awww, I'm sure she won't be so crabby when she's all settled in. My bad a s s chinchilla Buster bit my lip last night and now it's all swollen and it bled a lot. Serves me right for sticking my face into his when he clearly wasn't being social. I'll make a softy toffee out of him yet I will.

Her previous owner told me that Bessie is particularly grumpy when she's open and in heat, which she has been for a few days... so I'm hoping that is the main reason. But if she's just naturally vocal, that'll work too. :)

Personally I think that grumpy chins often have more "character" & just think of the challenge of turning her into a real softy who loves scritches. ;)

Be careful with that brand of hidey hut. We had one for Cheecher's and she eventually popped the top off of it. The top piece in ours had small pinning nails to hold parts of it together.

The top comes off pretty easily, actually. Do you think I should remove the top?

HAHAHAHAHA she is a bit grumpy "um...which is cool, I guess. If that's what she likes..." you made me laugh.

Her grumpiness will become endearing if it hasn't already, trust me. She may even eventually like/tolerate you one day hahaha!!!
