Hi All,

I went to Home depot yesterday and saw they had pretty cheap marble slabs for like 4.00 (a lil expensive I know but I haven't gone to lowe's yet to compare prices) none the less it comes in full square tiles that can be made into 2 if it were to be cut. I asked Home Depot if they cut and the guy said "no but we can sell you the equipment to cut it" In my mind I was like really, for one square. Anyway, if I go to lowe's and find the marble cheaper and they cut it should I or shouldn't I. Is it really necessary? To me it seems like a chin would enjoy the bigger surface area. Does it take up too much cage space?

....they should cut it for you for free. I have had Home Depot and Lowes cut it for me. I would talk to someone else.

I like mine cut so that I can use one tile for more than one cage.

I have 12x12 tiles in both my cages. You don't have to cut it. I see that some people are tiling their whole cage with tile floors so it is really a personal preference.

I wonder if one could tile over melamine? Melamine is easy enough to care for, but the tile would probably hold up for a lot longer, plus be cooler....

There's no reason why you couldn't

And no, you don't have to cut the tile, 12x12 is fine if you are happy with it! chins will like it either way. The benefit of having (2) 6x12s is that you have 2 tiles, and you can put them on ledges.

I know the lowes off from Lynn Road in Raleigh cuts them for free and if you find one with a chip on the corner they reduce it drastically. Just something to consider.
