So we got a new chinchilla, Nanners, about 2 months ago, and both the petstore (which I know isnt that reliable) and the vet said she was female. Her and my other chin sapphire had play time together and today they went in a cage together and were grooming eachother, and cuddling. But my boyfriend said that he saw Nanners "mounting" Sapphire. So we are confused. We swore we have seen Nanners try to spray urine. I guess my question is will a female chinchilla act this way towards another female or is she a male? I took a picture but for some reason I my computer wont let me post anything.
Thanks

It's a dominance thing....I have two males and they'll mount one another from time to time.

Males and females may mount chins of the same sex as a dominant thing... but that doesn't mean it's a female, your chin could still be a male.

How come none of you are demanding to see her chins doins????
