Momenteller, thanks for the information. The majority of the hammock is fleece except the outer edges and straps, he did give the outer edge fabric a few test nibbles but I guess he didn't like the taste. I just google'd "chinchilla hammock" which I didn't even know existed, and see all fleece ones so I will replace it with one of those. If anybody on this forum wants to PM me and sell me stuff I'd be happy to look at it (Open solicitations welcome!!). I am very disappointed in the pet store for selling these dandelion drops, and in the manufacturer for making them. It makes me think I should boycott their entire line and contact them as such because they don't put enough care into their products. I will take a look at the suppliers (and forum members) you mentioned. I just gave them a 1 star rating on the Petsmart site and an informative review.

liewwan, thanks, I will definitely be bringing them back once I write the manufacturer and Petsmart (there's a misnomer). Unfortunately they're the only game in town. I don't remember the name of the rock, I'll update when I get home. He bit it a few times and then tried to bathe himself in it and he had just had his bath! All he bathed himself in was pine shavings!! I just now saw a post (I think it was in the FAQ) about throwing hay, didn't realize they're all that picky. Why can't somebody make a bag with just the good ones in it? LOL

 I love that comment about selling only good hay. I'll be honest even if they are great hay, chins will still be picky. My 2 boys will only eat the leafy ones, one of my girls will only touch the leafy part and the other girl is crazy about the everything and will eat the sister's left overs  needless to say my girls cage is cleaner than my boys. I swear they grab a strand inspect it then smell it to see if it's the PERFECT strand. :impatient:
This forum really helped me too with what's ok and what are no nos. The only things I buy now from petsmart really is some of their wood chew toys or some of their grass hideaway huts (they will not stay in one place since my chins got a redecorating issue and be destroyed within a week :impatient:)

I would be concerned with the outer edges and straps not being fleece. Even if he doesn't seem to like the taste now, if he changes his mind and chews through it when you're not around, he could take a pretty good fall.

If you do a search on here, you can find a list of chin-safe items found at pet stores. The list is pretty small. The only acceptable foods PetSmart sells are Mazuri and Oxbow. I buy my lava bites there, and occasionally Oxbow hays, but everything else is crap, unfortunately.

Anna and everybody else, thank you all so very much for your kind words!

Momenteller, the chew rock is the blue cloud chew rock http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?source=android-home&q=cache:wL1E1H9v0Q8J:www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId%3D11393832

It's not on the petsmart site anymore but the above link points to the google cache of the product. I think I will be doing most of my shopping based on information and links from these forums. I'm going to be replacing the hammock with a chinchilla all fleece hammock shortly.

definitely get that hammock switched out for an all fleece one pronto. the nylon straps are an impaction hazard if a chin were to decide to eat them.

I would highly recommend Camphor Chins for supplies. I've ordered from there before and Alli's customer service is spectacular. for fleece items, get in touch with AnnieO here on the forum, she makes wonderful fleecy goodness for our fuzzybutts :))

There are many people in the classifieds section that sell chin safe items. Tanya has hands down the best fleece items I've ever owned, and Brittney has a nice line of fleece and chew toys as well. If you go in and check for current items for sale, you should find lots to fill up your cage.

If you are open to posting pics of your cage set up we can help make sure there aren't any hazards for your chin since it sounds like you are right there where most of us were with our first chins and we loaded up on petstore stuff thinking it was all ok.

You can use lava ledges/lava dots in the cage - my chins hate pumice stones but love chewing the lava ledges.

Everyone I have ordered from on here has been great. Rhonda's wood is awesome and I have a number of items from Ali at Camphor Chins. Next on my list is to order from Annieo and Britany (Classy chillas) :)

Welcome to the group!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. :flowers5:
