Kushi is loosing little bits of fur. Not large clumps, but small tufts that I find after a dust bath. He is an only chinchilla child, so there's no one to fight with. Is this normal?
As we live in New England, and in a dry basement apartment, he gets dust baths once a week. Any thoughts?

It's possible that he could be going through a priming phase. Chinchillas grow new fur every three to four months I believe. For me, it wasn't noticeable when I had my first two chinchillas. Now that I have six, seems like someone is always shedding around here and I find little bits of fur here and there on a regular basis. I don't think what you are describing is anything to worry about :)

Agreed. It sounds like priming. Sometimes when they shed, it comes out in tiny little tufts. This is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Now if you are seeing large bald spots and/or redness you may have a problem.
