Looking for advice

My husband bought me two chins at an auction this spring because I've always wanted a chinchilla. First thing I did when we got them home was separate them because we didn't know what sex they were. After researching how to sex them I was glad we had separated them because of course we had one male and one female. As it turned out I was wasting my time because the female was already pregnant and surprised us with 2 very cute kits. One of each sex.

Up till this past monday (when the kits turned 8 weeks old) I had all four chins in a two story critter nation cage with the two sections cut off from each other to prevent pregnancy. Now having had to separate the male kit from mom and sister I really am finding that I do not have the space needed for 4 adult chins. So I have two questions:

1) Would one level of the critter nation be large enough for 2 adult chins?

2) How do I find a good home for one or two of my chins? I don't want to sell them to someone who is inexperienced and won't treat them well but I don't know how to go about finding experienced owners in my area.

Can anyone help or give me some advice?

Half of a critter nation is big enough for a pair of chins. I would try to introduce the male kit with his father and keep the males together if they get along. The female kit can stay with her mother and they should get along fine. If you want to rehome the kits that is a possibility. I always ask a ton of questions before picking a good home for my babies.

This ^ is what i did with mine. I have my father chin and his son together. And mommy chin and her two daughters together.

If you want to rehome the kits that is a possibility. I always ask a ton of questions before picking a good home for my babies.

It came up when my chins kits were born. But i dont trust anyone enough to let them have a chin. Plus i wanted them anyway

Thanks for the response! I have mom and daughter together in one half and they seem very comfortable but didn't know if it would be large enough for them both once baby reaches full size.

I feel so bad having the make baby boy be alone but I don't yet trust leaving him in with my adult male. The adult (chewy) is actually the most easy going of all 4 chins but I have read how two males can fight and they should be introduced slowly. I have been letting both males out together in the playroom as a way to get them familiar with each other in a neutral zone. Any advice on how to successfully move baby boy in with the adult? I have no idea if he is even the father because there were 4 chins at the auction and I have a feeling they just split them in pares to sell them. For all I know the two adults I have are brother and sister.

how old are these babies? Are the weened or still nursing?

They are 11 weeks old and have been eating pellets and hay, drinking from a water bottle sense they were about 4 weeks old. I hadn't seen them nursing in a few weeks and baby boy is eating and drinking perfectly without mom. He's been on his own now for a week. He is more settled in at this point, had a few nervous days in the beginning. He's in a cage that I have set on top of my critternation where his mom is, not sure if being able to still see her helps or is a hindrance.

What would be the best way to go about introducing baby boy to adult male?

Has the father chin ever seen or lived with the boy at all? Chins have a great memory so if so, he may still remember his boy.

I dont know if i just got lucky with it or not but when my girl was pregnant with her second litter i had separated the male before birth time. She had two baby chins. After the 8~ week period i had the two kits living with just each other to make sure they could eat/drink on there own. Afterwords i started introducing them to there father and brother who both took to them immediately. - Then of course i found out i was mistaken and they were girls. So that stopped. They went back to there mother who remembered them instantly.
