Long and short facial features...

I am kind of new to the chin thing and I have learned a lot from this forum, but there is one thing I have a question about. After looking at some of the pics that others have posted on here ( all adorable, btw ) I got to looking really closely at my chin, Herby, and I have been wondering..Are there chinchillas that have long nasal/facial features and shorter nasal/facial features? I've noticed that the chins people have posted on here have short facial features but mine has longer facial features..

Weird question, I must admit but it's been stuck in my head for days! :err:

Brevi faced chins have shorter faces and are usually blockier, costinas have longer faces and bodies.

Here are some examples.

Bosco is a very brevi blocky chin

Sebrina is costina

yes, they are different. i have some blocky ones and some that i call my little rats lol...especially my tan female with red eyes

Most chinchillas that we have in the US are some combination of the two - both Costina and Brevicaduta, and so carry the traits of each, just like color. Somtimes the Costina is more dominant in a line and sometimes the Brevi. Both are beautiful!

Yes, they are all very beautiful!! Even with no fur around her mouth ( from tooth issues ) she is still adorable and still so mish fun to cuddle with in the recliner, after she eats!
