Maybe there IS one here, and I just missed it; which is possible there is a reason why I'm going to the eye doctor tomorrow.

But I think it would be helpful to have a list of common ailments/illnesses that commonly occur in chinchillas. Including signs, symptoms, cures, and what not. Just so that way newer owners know what in the world is going on with out having to post and post and post and post.

I know that it would take a lot of time and work and such but I really think it would help a lot.

I'm not sure maybe I'm goofy.

Edit: Of course as soon as I post this, I find it. :/ I feel like a doofus.

There is a page of medical info http://www.chins-n-hedgies.com/forums/showthread.php?t=859, but it is important to realize that a lot of chin care is "take them to a chin qualified vet/"
There have been times when I was very ill, but because I did not have the money for a doctor, I just kept treating symptoms until it got too bad to bear, then I went to the doc.
There has been similar experiences here. Owners want to think whatever malady is affecting their pet is something simple that can be cured with some TLC and may discount symptoms to fit into their view of what it might be. Likewise, you can never be too careful with a domesticated animal that has not been allowed to develop a wild-type immune system.

But if you really want a simple list, here it is-
If any of these occur and you are a new chin owner:
Seizures -get to a vet
drooling-get to a vet
not pooping-get to a vet
smelly poops-get to a vet
wet poops-get to a vet
lethargic-get to a vet
tilting-get to a vet
laying on side (won't wake up)-get to a vet
possibly broken bone-get to a vet
injury from encounter with another animal-get to a vet
infection-get to a vet
raspy breathing-get to a vet
runny nose-get to a vet
minor scratch- cover with blu-kote

I am sorry if I sound rude, crass, or just mean. I don't post answers very much, but I am tired of owners attempting to justify not seeking veterinary care when their animals are in distress. I am not accusing you of that, but I see the danger of making a ChinMD page where novices attempt to self-diagnose and end up hurting or killing an innocent animal.
