Good luck to you. Mosaics are wonderful, but even with the best of quality we would never breed two Mosaics together. There is a lethal factor when two white genes are united. However, this effects the breeding at the original time of breeding and should not have any effect on newborns. We have been breeding chinchillas since 1964 and have never used nest boxes. However, we know some very successful breeders that do.

FN cages are nice, but not baby safe, there is a FAQ on all the basic baby questions here and also some threads on how to baby proof a cage. Hope she ends up not being pregnant for ya, gl. =)

I have had two litters in a FN 142 cage that was modified to be baby safe. It has hardcloth attached to all bars and there is not chance of any baby escaping.
