As some might remember we recently moved. I'm guessing that it was the muggy hotel room that did it, but one of the girls caught a URI. She seemed a little "off" earlier today and by evening was starting to rattle in her chest and had a damp nose.

I knew it was a URI right away and she needed antibiotics or would keep going downhill.

I called Christy to ask about her outbreak with it and called the Nashville vet to try and get a
local referral.
We ended up at the university ER around ten pm. By midnight we were home with Baytril which thankfully she likes. It wasn't a cheap visit but it looks like it was caught early.
Today I gave her CC with some acidophilus and
peppermint. She took that well to.
Crossing my fingers-- I barely slept worrying. The
male who traveled with her also has a very slight breathing noise so he's getting it to-- and not as happy about it. Both are isolated and the room was thoroughly disinfected this morning.

Hoping the others will miss catching it.

Poor baby girl.

I hope they make a quick recovery. At least they are being medicated and all that now, so hopefully they can bounce back soon.

Cali- thank you

Update: the male seems fine now but I feel like he should stay on it longer than 3 doses. Any advice? The vet has my girl on it for 7 days before a re-check.

The female seems to be feeling much better. This morning she was more active and had eaten some hay. She even had the nerve to nip me when i got her out and showed some normal attitude.

I'm a little worried she's backed up so got baby gas
drops and have been giving her tummy rubs. If ever a chin liked gut massages, she certainly does!

Things are looking good so I think we caught it in time as long as there's no complications with bloat.

This is why it's sooo important to know your animals and be prepared by researching medical issues/symptoms and treatments. And I'm very grateful to the forum, Christy, a good vet, and a helpful post by Essentia on the topic.
