My area was hit with a huge windstorm last night, and when we woke up this morning there was no school, no power, and over 100 trees down.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? Lol. we just got the power back.:)

Up here by Sacramento we had some strong wind last night and today. No trees down around me though and my area kept power. There were bushes rolling all down the side of the roads this morning.

Timandben I believe the surrounding area around Pasadena was hit the hardest. I heard a lot of school districts closed schools today. The winds didn't hit my area hard like yours.

Pasadena was hit very hard last night. So was the coast. I lost power around 11pm. When I left for work this morning, there was still no power. Brace yourselves, we are supposed to have another windy night tonight.

My home place, in southern AB, canada, had a pretty bad windstorm on sunday. In Calgary, windows were actually knocked out of skyscrapper buildings...just from the wind. And there were fires all over southern AB, which is very unusual. A native American Reserve was completly burned down, and They had to evacuate half of Lethbridge. Lethbridge also lost a lot of historical buildings. Seems like this windstorm is part of the same stream coming in through the west coast.

I'm in NW Washington and we had wind gusts up to 60 mph last week. Our neighbor's tree went down over the phone lines and taking out the power lines, too. We lost power for several hours. Thank goodness for a woodstove for heat and propane for cooking.

I had heard Cali was getting hit with gusts 60-100 mph. I can't believe what damage that must be causing! Good luck to you all!

Here in San Diego...we got nuthin'! So far. They said we would get winds by 6pm tonight but nothing so far.

Hang in there kids and stay safe!

Yep, it was a big build up yesterday for nothing. I expected to wake up to all kinds of havoc. It is colder than usual though.

I was kind of hoping for some howling here, I'm down by the beach, but not enough to cause damage. Though according to my fiancee the first night it knocked down a pole on the navy base.

I lived right smack dab in the middle of the power outage, San Gabriel. There was nowhere for us to go since everything around us had no power! We had no power for a day and a half. It was very freaky coming home the night before from work to a completely dark city. Even now there are still a few streets that still have no power, and there are still a few intersections that require 4way stops because the street lights aren't working. It makes getting around town a pain in the patoot. I am glad that I came home from work this morning to power. Now I have heat, food, and internet! <3 The aftermath of the wind is ridiculous tho. All the streets are lined with uprooted trees, but the cleanup crews have been doing an awesome job of cutting them up and sweeping everything to the sides. It's kind of strange to drive down the streets and just see the sidewalks littered with chopped up trees. I feel so bad for my parents tho... they luckily had their trees pruned earlier so none of their trees fell over, except their 2 banana trees. But they also had their gazebo and carport cover literally picked up and swept across their driveway, ruining a lot of my mom's plants and garden =(

we are having crazy wind up here in Edmonton today! a realtor's sign out front of my building is threatening to come right off the pole (it's a metal sign hanging by just one hook now. i tried to get it back on the other hook, but i couldn't. i'm worried it's going to come flying through my patio door soon!). weather station was saying the winds were gusting between 90 and 100 kilometres an hour earlier, and it's a cold wind coming from the north/ north west. i just about lost my hat when i was oot and aboot earlier! not looking forward to the walk to my kiddo's school to pick her up in an hour, lol, but it looks like things have died down a little bit out there.

i hope all is ok in Lethbridge now, i have relatives that live there.
