I have been looking into another chinchilla and found a local rescue. She has a 4 week old kit that seems to be missing fingers on one of her front feet. The kit seemed high energy and the woman at the rescue said she didn't appear
to be in pain. What could have potentially caused this to happen and is It worth considering as a pet?

Probably got chewed off by mom and it won't make any difference even in a show animal. Legs, ears, eyes and tail are not judged.

I have one baby here that mom chewed all of his toes off of one back foot, and three of his brothers off. She got a little overzealous when they were born cleaning them, but they heal fine with no intervention and it does not affect them as they age.

Hayley lost some toes while being delivered, she is doing just fine. It happened when her mama was trying to pull her out and accidentally pulled them off.

I had a chin that didn't have a complete set of toes on any of his feet. One foot only had 2 toes. He was completely fine...you would never have noticed if you weren't looking. Missing toes is actually quite common with chins.

Thanks! I wanted to make sure it wasn't something that lead to issues down the road. She is a super adorable girl.
