So..my baby Chilli died on the third this month. Just found out...now after trying to figure out and getting the wrong sex diagnosis for four years by vets that Chilli and her sister - still alive - Chico are females...God i had a hard time trying to figure out cause I couldn't find good pictures, not to mention the person who gave me them said they were males and then a vet confirmed it...Bah idiots. Anyway Chilli died from pyometra, not a serious case of a UTI. My poor baby girl T-T I never knew I had daughters...I just wish I had known. She had it once back in January and it came back :( I wish I could of tried for a spay....Plus they are worried for Chico getting it, but I don't know if it's a hereditary thing?

.....No wonder Chico is sooo moody, but that doesn't explain why Chilli was the most loving, affectionate, kiss-giving, calm girl I've ever seen.
Also, even though Chico is now on a weight gain supplement she has lost weight, so her grieving was a very hard core. I don't know if I ever mentioned Chico is quite under weight, feel the ridges of her spine skinny.

The vets at the time couldn't understand why a guy looked like he had pyometra. Guess they know now...And for the record..yes I do feel like a jerk for not having known the difference. I couldn't find a clear picture reference.

You may need to find a new vet. Honestly I wouldn't trust a vet who couldn't tell a female with petro from a male.....try some calfmanna to help Chico gain weight. It will be a slow road but getting her weight up is critical if you can feel the spine. A bit of canned pumpkin or baby sweet potato can also help put weight back on.

I agree with Kristy. Any decent (I said decent, not good or great) vet will be able to tell the genders apart. Try searching the forums for the vet listings in your state :).
