So we have finally decided to move. As much as we hate moving (especially during summer), we have so many problems where we are now. When we do laundry it makes our house smell like sulfur, our breaker box is constantly flipping breakers, our street always floods, our yard always floods, and it's just all getting annoying. Our landlord is great though and when our year was up he didn't make us renew our lease. He just said to give him 30 days notice and we were free to move whenever we wanted. Because of that, we have been waiting to find something we really liked, in the neighborhood we want. So I found an apartment in Riverside, which is where we want to be. It's an eclectic, historical neighborhood that I have always loved hanging out in. We are saving to buy a house, so our rent limit was $600 a month. I didn't think we would find everything we wanted, in the neighborhood we wanted in that price range. We specifically wanted central heat and air, a washer/dryer hookup, pet friendly, ceiling fans, a dishwasher, not to be in a large apartment complex and off street parking for 2 cars. Being bored I decided to look on Craigslist, and bam, I think I found our apartment!

The kitchen and bedroom are fairly small, but that is something we can live with. We have a small bedroom now, so it wouldn't be much of a change. It has ceiling fans, a tiled living/dining room (yay for no more vacuuming chinchilla poo and hay!), a ton of storage space, a completely renovated kitchen, and a washer/dryer already on site. I called the landlord and he seemed really nice. He said the chinchillas were fine, though he would charge us a pet fee for them (but not for our cat for whatever reason). He said he was afraid they would possibly freak out the other tenants? Either way, he said he would accept them which is great.

Keep your fingers crossed that the place looks as good in person as it does on CL. We really want to move by the end of the month to get out of this suck shack!

Well the picture looks great and I hope it is in reality. Fingers crossed for you. And lol at "chinchilla would freak other tennant"

I hope it all works out. Now to add something else to the list, our central AC breaker has started flipping. The hottest day of the year, so far, and I can't keep the AC on. All the chins have been moved into my bedroom where there is a window unit, but it's all just becoming too much.

Sounds like you've got your hands full! I love the house, riverside is a great neighborhood IMO, and it's nice and centrally located. (And a wee bit of a shorter drive for me =D)

Seriously though it looks like a great place. Tile floors are wonderful for sooo many different reasons with the chinnies! You should probably forewarn the landlord about the real danger of a tenant with chinchillas.... that within a matter of months all of the other tenants will have at least 2 of their own. ;)

And of course you know if you have major AC troubles in the meantime, just ask and I'll do anything I can to help!

Thanks for that. :) Right now all the chins are in my room. Yeah, my itty, bitty room. :p I completely cleaned out my walk in closet and moved most of the bedroom stuff in there to make room for the chinnies. The central AC seems to be working right now in (of course because I already called the landlord) but just to be safe I want everyone temperature sensitive in with the window unit. Lala is being adopted tomorrow, so I won't have the really cramped bedroom for long. Until we move we are definitely not taking in any rescues. I just can't and be worried about the temperature any time I'm not home.

If I get anyone who needs to surrender do you want me to pass them along to you? If not I completely understand. I have someone else in the area who is willing to foster, but I always like to have a backup.

You wanna help me move?

I hope it works out for you. I totally understand about problems/issues that become frustrating over time. Good luck!

I would be more than happy to foster any fuzzies that need a helping hand. :) I could EASILY convert the spare back bedroom into a spare chinnie room for any girls and just keep any boys in the dining room.... ;)

Does babysitting the chinnies count as helping move? ;) Seriously though if I'm not busy whenever you move, I'll just charge the standard moving fee, 2 beers and a smile. :D I've done that enough to know the difference a few friends make in the moving process!

The apartment looks great and looks like you have a few good friends on here! Anyone willing to help move for a few beers & a smile is ok in my book!

wOOt! I have no idea when that will be exactly, but I will keep you informed. The more people I am able to get to help the less time it will take everyone. I'll get everyone some beer and then take you all out to dinner. Sweet Tomatoes anyone?

And I would so get you more than two beers. That's just cheap. :p

Thank you so much for being willing to foster. I haven't had anyone contact me lately for surrenders, but just in case it's great to know you are there and willing.

How exciting! I hope everything works out as planned and that you just love the new place. Having someone help you move is a super bonus! What great people on CnH!

So we looked at the apartment yesterday and it is very nice! It was nicer than I originally thought it would be. It is small, but still has everything we are looking for. So, we have a choice...get every single amenity we want, or more space. I think we are going to settle for less space and have everything else.

The landlords were incredibly nice, which is always a plus. They don't seem like the in your face all the time type people, which is nice. At the same time though, they are very into keeping the place nice. The current tenant will be out by the first, but they won't let anyone move in until they get everything painted and **** and span. We were thinking of looking some more, but they do have other people interested as well so I think we are just going to go for it.

Fingers still crossed!
