I have a feeling I am know what the answer will be for this hidey house, but I picked it up with some other chin stuff a while back, it was basically free so I thought I would ask to see if any of you have one or have seen one.

It is exactly like this one, but I couldn't find it anywhere online in the US, so I am not sure how the person I got it from came across it. I don't know what type of wood it is, or any of the specifics, but if any one has any insight that would be great! If I can't use it its no big deal at all.

It says in the item specifics it is natural wood so I would think it's safe. Not sure what wood it is but it's unlikely they'd hunt down something toxic to build it out of.

It looks similar to the ones I've seen at a pet store up here, it was made of pine, but I think it was put together with little nails if I remember right.

All our houses are put together with nails. I don't really see the concern. The chins are smart enough not to try to chew nail and even if they did it would be no different than bar chewing. By the time they get close to the point of the nail it can be pulled or the house needs replaced anyway.

Some nails wouldn't be a problem necessarily. It's that those little houses are put together with very small nails or small tacks or thin staples and those can be an issue with chins chewing them or possibly swallowing them when they come out. Not to mention that those tacks and staples and things can be sharp, chins can cut themselves on those.

Chin chews away on the wood that is soft, then crack-chin hits a nail and cracks a incisor, not cool to have nails.
