I have a home beige female currently weighing 504g. This is the first time i have weighed her as i only bought her less than 3 weeks. Therefore i have no idea what her 'normal' weight is.

Im starting to wonder whether she may be pregnant as im starting to notice some of the signs. Her nipples are reddened and are about 2-3 cm long. I have caught her lying on her side numerous times (normally mornings), her stomach is firm and she has started to reside to the bottom of her cage most of the time. I have not tried palpatating her stomach nor am i going to incase any damage is caused to potential kits.

However she is still quite active and jumping up anything and everything when she has her time out of the cage.
She is not caged with a male but i am led to believe she was with a male before we bought her who was sold with her 6-7 month kit a few weeks before we bought her. She seems to be drinking a lot compared to my other chins and eating quite a bit but i dont know whether that is normal for her.

Can anyone tell me if they think she may be pregnant, and if yes how long she may have left?

Wow, I hope not. 504 gm is pretty tiny to be in breeding, and if that's pregnant weight, that's just sad. It does sound though, from your description, that she could be pregnant.

I hope she isn't pregnant too...that is too small to be in breeding especially if that is her preganant weight. I hope you have a good vet and money for emergencies if she is

 Hello & welcome to CnH.

Whereabouts in the UK are you based?

What an introduction to chins you are going to have! I have to agree with Peggy - 504g is teeny to be in breeding & it is a pity the breeder did not warn you the chin might be pregnant again. It sounds like this is a possible breedback.

What type of cage do you have the female in at the moment?

I have her in a baby safe cage and have made it suitable for when baby kits arrive. I bought her as a pet but later found out she had been housed with a male which was sold with her lastest baby just a few weeks before i purchased her. I am not new to owning chinchillas and i currently have 2 breeding pairs of chinchillas which are a healthy breeding weight of 700g plus.

I am willing to pay any veterinary costs and i have an excellent emergency vet at hand.

Her previous owner has told me that she has had 3 previous litters without any problems

She now weighs 524g which is a 20g weight gain in 6 days. Surely that is a definate sign of pregnancy?
You can feel definate masses when putting your hand on her stomach but i cant feel any movement. Is that something to be worried about?
Lately she has not wanted to be handled and spends most of her time sleeping in strange positions.

It is going to be one of those "wait and see" kind of things. I would suggest not over-handling her.
If she is in a kit safe cage, you have done what you can for the moment. Hope everything goes well.

Sometimes you don't feel movement, and who knows how long she has to go. I have females gaining tons, getting solid when I know for sure they are not due for at least a month. No sense in worrying about things you can't change you will make yourself crazy..now you just wait and see
