We are having to do some major remodeling at our house due to our foundation sinking so right now we have exposed wires tile torn up in kitchen and bathroom ect...
For my chinchilla's safty she will have to be in her cage for a week at most without play time. ( hopefully the bathroom will be done in a week )
She is used to playtime everyday for 30min to an hour. is she gonna hate me for keeping her locked up in her cage? what can i do so that she isn't so board? She has her wheel and sticks, tubes, chewing things.

She's got plenty to do while she waits. She'll be fine. She may rattle the bars a bit, but she'll get over it.

Chinchillas do not need playtime. It's a nice thing to be able to allow your chin to get out and run free for a bit, but that don't need it. As long as you are paying attention to her while she's in her cage and she has her wheel she will be just fine.

If she lets you hold her, you could carry her around the house and do some walking, maybe let her sniff some of the higher up things she doesn't get to investigate during playtime. Mork likes to sniff walls when I do this with him. Make sure you have a firm grip on the base of her tail if you do this, and hold her so that she feels comfortable.

thanks i was worried. She loves to be held and carried and cuddled. So i will do that with her. One more question in 2 wks i will be out of town for 2 days. I have a sitter for her I read that they sometimes throw tempertanturms when you go on vacation and when you come back they wont go to you because they are upset at you. Is that true?

I don't think chinchillas know how to tell time. They won't realize at all you've been gone for a couple of days. Just spend as much time with her as you can, and I'm sure she will be fine.

When mine went through a major remodel I bought a tent and we had playtime in that. I put boxes and tubes and chew stuff in it and sat in there and watched. I know they don't NEED playtime but I do, I miss them too much if I can't get one on one time every day!

I don't know how messy your remodel is, but you could always track down a couple fridge boxes and construct a cardboard playpen...
