Is he just tired or should I be worried?

I normally have one of my very small male chins paired up with a trio, until I can find him a more suitable cage mate, as my other males are large and tend to pick on him.
Anyway, A few nights a month I have to be away from home for a few days, I take this one with me, in travel cage, and then I set up a larger cage wherever i'm staying. Usually he's fine with it, a happy, bouncing bundle of joy that runs to the door whenever I call him.
I keep this cage next to the head of my bed, with the second level at my pillow height.
Well, last night I was awoken by loud squeaking from my chin, and to my horror, his head was stuck in between the bars of the cage.
I was terrified, and shaking quite badly at the thought of what couldve happened if my dog had seen him. I gently tried to work him out despite his protesting squeaks. After about 10 minutes, I was able to get his head back through. He was jumping around and acting quite happy. I immediately put him in a different cage (and I feel so guilty not realizing that this bar space wasnt big enough)
And I watched him for about two hours and then went back to bed.
When I woke up this morning he was fine, but then after about 1/2 hour he was just sitting on a shelf, not really moving. I picked him up and he immediately nuzzled into my sweater and went to sleep.
I don't know if he's sick, or just tired from last night (as I have no idea how long he was sitting with his head stuck) or he's missing his cagemates.
But i'm worried.
His poops are fine, so i'm guessing he's just tired. But i'd really like some reassurance... =(

Aw! What a scary thing to happen! I think you did all the right things. You watched him afterward and are monitoring poops and water intake. I think he was probably just tired and wanted some affection. It sounds like he is fine right now. Just watch for any changes like extreme lethargy or poop change. Otherwise, I think it just scared him a bit.

Probably just tired, as he had quite the adrenaline rush trying to get 'unstuck'!
Sounds like he'll be fine!
Good job getting him out.

Thanks =)
I think he's okay now. Still pretty tired, but I let him run around the bathroom while I cleaned a bit and he was hyper for about 20 minutes.

I was shaking so bad it's a wonder I managed to keep a grip and get him out. haha. Not to mention the biting and "honking". I'm just sooo glad he's okay.

Hopefully like with us its just because it always hurts more the next day so he is probably just a little bit sore!

I'm just surprized he didn't just get out. I always thought where the head went the rest could follow. Great job on the rescue.
