Here are some (blurry and dark!) photos of my two new little men Silver and Dragon. I was incredibly lucky to be able to adopt them, I got them from a breeder who rehomes chins as well and their old owner had to surrender them because of an allergy problem. I live in Sweden and there are some pretty great laws regulating chin (and all pet) ownership here so they are not actually sold in petstores which I think is a fantastic thing, I had to hunt around for a bit to find the right guys for me which would discourage a lot of impluse buyers. It is actually required by law here to keep chins in pairs and there are laws about cage sizes too. Anyway, once I answered some questions from the breeder she decided i could take my boys home!
Silver is six years old and is a mellow little softie at heart, he likes scratches under the chin and loves to climb all over me during playtime. He was shown by his previous owner and did pretty well, there I actually managed to find a baby photo of him on the national chinchilla society webpage so he´s my little celebrity. He likes sitting near his sandbath watching while Dragon runs around the chin room like crazy.
Dragon is six months old and a bundle of energy, every time he comes out for playtime he wall surfs and runs around like mad, he is pretty shy with people but is starting to come up to me by himself to sniff and explore and even sat on my knee for the first time the other day. He takes charge with Silver though and always wants to be the first one to get treats and eat first, but Silver seems happy enough to follow his lead with things like that.
Obviously I am head over heels in love with the pair of them and can´t wait to learn as much as I can from this forum about making their lives happy and hearing about other people´s experiences of living with their chins![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
