I am a brand new chin owner..........4 full days! Below is my little boy Izzy who is 6 months old. He is extremely friendly and loving. I just got finished adding some toys to his cage. I will begin to replace the plastic shelves with the wood ones I bought today.

PS....how does his cage look? Any advise? Anything I need to change?

Aww Izzy is adorable:)
And I think your cage looks great. As you said, take out the plastic shelves and ramps and it'll be perfect :)

You need to take out the hammock. Those types of hammocks pose a safety hazard to chinchillas because they can get a leg caught in the straps. It's better to use fleece hammocks for sure.

The plastic shelves may end up being a concern if he starts chewing on them. The ramps aren't necessary because he probably won't use them. :)

just use some more fleece and get a chin spin :D then it would look perfect to me :D and of course take out the plastic

Izzy is adorable and the cage is looking good. I agree with what the others have already said for improvement.

how are u going to replace the shelves? are u going to put the same ones up just made in wood or you going to try a different design?

Izzy is so cute!

Agreed with above, remove hammock and plastic. Also, I think that toy with the willow balls may have nuts inside? If so, i'd take it out when the chin starts to make progress on it, since nuts aren't safe for chins.

so cute! yeah, definately lose the plastic.if she's like kishi she will try to eat them, which is not healthy, as for the toys i got one for kishi, and they had little plastic jingle balls in, which i took out as soon as she made a hole in them big enough to remove them, i also usually remove the twine, since i don't know what it's made of.

Izzy is adorable and very lucky to have you! Cage looks great, and will look even better when when you finish your modifications! Enjoy your new baby!
