Is it ok to burn incense in the same room as a chinchilla?

I would advise against, just because I've read so much on their sensitivity to smells. I'm sure someone will comment soon w/ specifics.

As mentioned above, chins are very sensitive to smells. I would keep the incense away from them.

I agree, it is stressful for them and can cause other respiratory problems as well.
