Inca's Eye (again)

OK, when I got Inca, he had the watery eye that turned into conjunctivitis.
The vet put him on meds and eye drops and it seemed to clear him up.
Now about 10 days after going off meds, he has the crusty eyes again!! Taking him back to the vet again.
Are eye infections usually hard to clear up? Is this normal with conjunctivitis?

Eye infections can be a pain in the butt. It may be a good idea to give him oral antibiotics in conjunction with the opthamalic antibiotic to get rid of it. Sulfa should be a good choice.

she had him on Trib, and gave him a shot last time. Oh well, he's worth it!

If a second round of antibiotics does not clear the eye up further investigation may be needed. Could be a clogged tear duct among other things. I would also try a different antibiotic this time. I dealt with one infection that took 3 different antibiotics until I got it to go away. I have always had good luck with Terramycin.

Back to the vet today, another shot and continue eye drops for a week...then back again! They did some kind of smear test (wiped a slide on his nose) and it was fine, cross your fingers!

Why a shot and not just give you a oral sulfa drug to be given for 7 days?

Did the 10 day oral last time. Im not sure why, but eye is looking and staying :thumbsup:much better!
