Im little worried...

This is my baby Kabob. He's been a little huffy lately, he was quilling, so i've just been holding him while he sleeps really. I gave him a bath today and i saw this behind his ear. I cant even get a really good look at it because he kinda freaks out when ever i get close to it. Should i be worried or is his fur just all matted?

Its hard to tell from the images, but the area looks like it may be a little crusty. Is it?

Is he scratching at it a lot? Usually they don't get matted fur from quilling. I did have one that got really dry flaky skin during his quilling that looked pretty ugly though.

If the area is just dry flaky skin, you can add some vitamin e or flaxseed oil to his skin to try to soften it up. Otherwise, vet visit to ensure that you are not dealing with a bacterial skin infection, or a mite outbreak.
