I'm sure Shelly loves that it is 62 inside my apartment but I am FREEZING!!! Is it ok to turn on my heater? Should I just put on a blanket? I know this is not cold for most people but I live in Los Angeles and 62 indoors is cold.

You can turn on your heater. You don't have to freeze to death to keep her comfortable. Just don't crank it to 80 degrees. Ease it up to 70 and you'll both be fine.

i have my heat on 70 during the day when i am here and they are fine. but i do tend to always be in a sweatshirt & fleece pants!

We keep my house at 65 and the chin room is usually around 55, but after being down there while building cages it doesn't bother me anymore.

That makes me happy. I was afraid there was going to be a news report "crazy woman freezes to death, but the chinchilla was happy". On a side note she finally stuck her head in her new tube!!

its 65 degrees at night, and when I'm home its usually 70, and when i'm not home its back down to 65, but i'm used to the cold, i live in Wisconsin.

We close the heat vent in the chin room to help it stay cooler in the winter months. We also use the ceiling fan alot to keep the room cool for them.

My heat is set on 65 during the winter months. We usually only have a few days of really cold temperatures though, so it usually doesn't jump on unless it's at night. I am just a cool person though, so anything over 72 and I feel like I'm dying. :p Chins are the perfect pet for me.
