I said I wasn't going to watch it. And I made it to last week when a friend invited me over for dinner... and yea. So what do you think about this year?

I was thinking they all sucked the first week but that's normal. This week was better and I think there's a few who I actually like. I'm shocked, but Ellen is way better than Kara, whom has slightly better advice this year but I hate watching. Simon appears to have short-timer's and what is up with them cuddling constantly?

The theatre is really strange too, it appears to be very small compared to past venues.

Hey, at least dinner was good... though the amount of sugar we need afterwards to get through these shows is disturbing. :D

i havent always been an avid watcher but i have watched from the beginning this year.
i liked the guest hosts during the tryouts. i think ellen is funny and ads a nice dimension to the show......kara is ok. kinda miss paula and i think that simon is cocky but honest.

i thought the same thing about the theatre too! it looks like just family & friends and a few select people like vera wang!

there are only a handful of singers that i like and hopefully they willl make it.

I think Ellen is doing a really good job. Randy isn't dawging everyone to death, for which I am eternally grateful. Kara is, was, and always will be a waste of breath. It's almost like someone said "Okay, take over for Paula and hang all over Simon." I'm sure her husband is thrilled watching her manhandle him.

The stage is where they start out every year Tara. They always do that until they hit the top 20, then they go to the big stage.

I suck at names, so I'll just have to describe. I like the chick with the dreads the best so far. I didn't think I would, but she's really shaping up. I don't like the other rocker chick wanna be, with the incredibly boring mop shaped hair cut. I definitely agreed with Simon last night. I don't think she came anywhere near dreadgirl. Other than that, I really don't like any of the girls. They are all off key, pick crappy songs, and can't hit high notes. The one girl that did hit the big note last night? Is she "challenged?" She reminds me of my mom's slow learners back when she taught high school.

Guy wise I like Mike (the big guy), and the one who sang first for guy's night. The one with the mullet surprised me this time - I thought he was tons better, but still not super star winning quality.

So far I've found it incredibly boring. I hope it picks up more when they get on the big stage.

I'm very disappointed this year. I get pretty bored watching the shows and no one really stands out to me. The only one I kind of like is Crystal Bowersocks, but she doesn't blow me away. Guy wise, Lee Dewyze is alright but I feel like I have heard too many voices like his. Big Mike is okay, too. Ellen is doing okay, I figured all she would be doing is cracking jokes but she is actually making an effort to give legit advice and comments.

I agree about Kara and Simon cuddling all the time. I have noticed she's always touching him or sitting 1 inch away from him. Bleh. Uhm, hello, she's married....

I know one thing for sure. Hayley Vaughn needs to go. She annoys me to no end every time I hear her.

i am with stacie 100%. crystal was my fav girl & lee & big mike were my fav guys. and hayley & her lisp need to go.

I have always watched AI, since day 1, season 1. And this is by far the worst and most incompetent group of singers ever. I find myself having to do other things while watching just so that I cringe less at the awful singing. I can't pick a winner, much less a favorite for this year. But sadly, I will watch this trainwreck of a season because it is still addicting. And strangely, Ellen on idol actually makes me love her more. She does add a bit of more fun and does try to make an effort at thoughtful criticism. Although, I've already noticed, that if you sing a slow song, she says it is boring and makes her sleepy, which shouldn't be the case, although the contestants that do sing calmer and slow ballads aren't doing a super job and aren't helping to change her opinion. As for wanting Haley off the show? Good luck. Haley Vaughn and Tim Urban are VFTW's picks this year, and we all know how that goes... :hair:

SO glad Haley is gone. The only one I was sort of sad to leave was John Park since he was my early favorite. The rest I don't really care about.

Next week will determine who is in the top 12. For the girls I know I wouldn't mind seeing Didi and Lacey Brown leave, or Siobhan...or Lilly Scott. haha..I really do not like any of the girls this year. Guy wise...I have to say Tim Urban even though he is a adorable, he really can't sing. I'm going to have to say Aaron Kelly for the next guy. He is young and cute but just seems annoyingly so. I dunno, I'm weird and apparently easily annoyed.

By the way, I'm wondering if the Kara/Simon thing is just a publicity stunt for this year since obviously the singers aren't all that great. Considering Kara is married and Simon is engaged...or maybe they really are just being skanky on national television.

All I can say is someone lit a fire under Danny and wow was he chatty! Glad to see he's going to be out singing, even if it is country.

I know Tara! I didn't think he was ever going to shut up! I am a Danny fan, always was, and I'm glad to see he may have found his niche. Too bad I'm not a country fans, so I doubt I'll hear much of him. :(

I think the ones who went home last night should have. I think they have a lot more weeding out to do too.

Notice this year, nobody has said anything about "This is our most talented group yet!" That's because it's not, but with time I think they will get there.

Last week must not have been that exciting as I see no comments. Only thing I can say is I wasn't as moved or as impressed as some of the judges, but live performances are always better in person.

Peg, what is that T.V. site you go to?

I was very upset last night when Alex went home!! I think he had amazing talent and America really messed that one up!!!

I'm fine with everyone going home except Alex Lambert. I liked his voice and thought he was growing every week.

agreed. he was adorable too! besides the mullet haha but his voice was really unique and i felt terrible for him...he was actually the only person i watched otherwise i won't let myself!

I think Alex was okay, but I don't think he was ever going to be David Cook or Jordin Sparks. He always looked uncomfortable on stage, stiff and wouldn't unwind. That was in front of, what, 100 people? Can you imagine at the Kodak theater with thousands and thousands? I think he has an okay voice, but the whole live performance thing would just eat him alive.

The blond chick that got all snarky amused me. "American really let some talent go tonight." No, not really. She annoyed me from the get go. Everything about her seemed really contrived and planned out. Her clothes were stupid and unnattractive, she picked crappy songs and sang them badly. How exactly did anybody with talent get let go?

Haven't had much of a chance to watch it live as I am a rock solid Criminal Minds watcher, but so far I'm not over impressed with any of the girls. Tim Urban needs a haircut or a hair shape or something like that! I like Lee and Andrew not sure why Kara is so gaga over Casey he is just okay. And I know Peggy will skewer me for this, but Simon WTF! The BEST version of Jeff Buckley's Hallejiuah has ALWAYS been Jason Castro. If I was there that night you told Tim that I would have thunked you right up long side your head.

Oh and as far as I'm concerned America has always let the talent go. Does anybody remember Michael flipping Johns?????!!!! Seriously people, Kristy made it further than Michael Johns and she sounded like a cat being tortured on a regular basis!

AMEN! Anytime I hear that song I think of him!

Me too! And then I run to the kitchen and poke my eardrums out with steak knives! :)

I thought you were my friend Laurie. Why would you make me listen to that drug addicted, brain dead, whiney, no talent singer?? Why would you do that??

Woe is me.....................
