Two of the worst movies I've ever bothered to go to the cinema to watch were Independence Day and, more recently, The Happening.

I skipped a molecular biology lecture to see Independence Day, and totally wished I hadn't bothered!! Studying would've been way more fun.

As for The Happening....dear god that was truly awful. Nothing good in there whatsoever. What a waste of time and money.

Funny how few people seem to like The Watchmen. I really enjoyed it, and didnt have any problems grasping what was going on, despite the fact that Ive never read the book. And what do you know....I got the book for Xmas...so I'll be reading it over the next couple of days heheh

Open Water anyone?? I have no idea why I even bothered to go see it.

Borat. You can't mess with the Zohan...pretty much any of his movies.

Halloween 2, Rob Zombie version. Give me the orginal Halloween 2 anyday.

I'm sure i can think of more in due time...

I've seen parts of Bruno...... that is horrible as well.

Hey peggy! ELF is on usa--better turn it on ;)

I liked Borat well enough I guess, but after hearing "I walked out" reviews of Bruno, I have no intention of ever watching it. Ever.

I rarely step foot inside a theatre (maybe once every couple of years) but I do have movies by mail through blockbuster instead of cable tv. I watch several a week while I work on my chinnie projects so I've seen most everything that is available on DVD.

The worst one I've seen this year was Revolutionary Road...all around sad and depressing.
other wastes of time were
Management
Once
Gracie
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
& Bruno was waaaaay to explicit for me-it really should have had an X rating IMO.

I know this should be another thread but I like feel good chick flicks so some of my favs are
Pride and Prejudice
Persuasion
Dear Frankie
Griffin and Phoenix
Marley and Me
7 Pounds
Twilight
Taken
Though None Go With Me
Up
Catch and Release
17 Again
Benjamin Button
The Proposal
13 Going on Thirty
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

And (sorry Peggy) but I think Elf is a cute movie, my kids watch it all the time....

I saw Funny People last night, by no choice of my own. So for those of you who haven't seen it yet and wanted to, I wouldn't bother. It was funnier than I thought it would be, but after the half way point (which I actually thought was the end), it stopped being funny. And it just dragged on, and on, and on. It was 2 and a half hours long, and absolutely nothing happened in the last hour.

I watched this last night and I really did like it. Some of it was a little more subtle than most Adam Sandler movies tend to be. Most of it was not meant to be funny at all, and that's fine. It showed how pathetic the life of the George Simmons character was despite him having success and how he needed Ira to be his friend.

I did like the part when they were making fun of the tall Swedish doctor. That was hilarious.

Overall I like Funny People very much. I tend to like things that other people like and dislike things that people enjoy. (I won't go into my dissertation about why Seven Pounds was just wrong and how it provided a very bad example to all that see it...suicide is not ever noble!)

The Hangover and I Love You Man. Then again I can't stand slapstick comedy. I was forced to watch both of those films. It is two hours of my life I will never get back.

Can I add the Wolfman to this list??/ All the hype, and nothing special. Puts a horror moving to shame. Acting was bad, you didn't get attached to any of the characters...
