I think I'm in a bit of a pickle. I just got a new chin on Sunday the 19th. He was in the guest room, but we had to move him into the office because I have family visiting. My parents have been bad about leaving the door open to prevent the dogs from going in there and disturbing Ande, and with all good intentions, they moved him into my room and put his cage next to Bryson's cage. :banghead:

Now here's the thing. I was in the process of doing Ande's 30 day quarantine. I was good about washing my hands after handling or cleaning Ande's cage, changing clothes after each handling, and separate play areas. He hasn't shown any signs of illness other than loose poo due to stress. Their cages were close enough that when I got home, Ande and Bryson were sniffing each other and giving happy squeaks and Bryson was popcorning and coming back to sniff Ande more.

I guess quarantine has gone out the window now right? Uhg this is so stressful :hair:

Do I move Ande back into the office to finish out his quarantine, or should I just leave him? Mom said she had just moved him in there about 10 minutes before I got home.

If you can't move him out again, you haven't much of a choice!
I'd still keep them in seperate cages for awile, maybe a week, and make sure they're both doing O.K. - then, let them play together after a dustbath together and see what happens! Good luck!!

You did quarantine him for a few weeks before and he doesn't appear to be sick and has even had fecal tests done that show he's not sick. Bryson most certainly is not sick...and it hasn't been around any sick animals.

I wouldn't worry too much. If everything seems to be going pretty well, I'd just leave it how it is. It should be okay. :)

Quarantine is impossible now at this point since they've been in contact. I would keep them in their own separate cages and not begin introductions until the time when quarantine was supposed to be up so that the new chin has more time to acclimate to his new home before being introduced to a new chin, which can be very stressful.
