...but i told my breeder what type of cage i was using and how it was set up and she said i might should choose something else, because its dangerous. X(

i really spent a lot of money and time building this cage and sewing all the liners and such.

i was just wondering if i could get some opinions on my cage?

please and thankyou!

first, an overall view. both my girls live on top, and the blue coro'd cage is vacant.

i really thought my cage wasn't "dangerous". i researched c&c's, and it's very well supported.

oh, and the girls are loving their oatmeal container.

I think your cage looks fine.

The only thing could be if they are under 275ish grams, the coroplast should be a bit higher. Hedgehogs under that weight can squeeze through the squares so if they tried, they might be able to climb to reach the grids.

What is it about the cage your breeder thinks is dangerous?

I'm usually on the chin side of the forum, but I have done some fair research on hedgies and your cage looks fine to me. Infact, I love it! It looks very nice and you have some spoiled girls there :)

it looks sooo cute! but i'd say that you might want to get another wheel.

i have another wheel, i just havent put it in yet since they dont wheel very much.
ill put it in soon.

and thanks for all the compliments. :D

im glad to know some people think its safe.

I love the C&C cages. While I no longer have hedgies, I used C&C cages for years with no problems. I prefered them over the container type set ups that were popular at the time.

First of all, I love your cage. Penny is jealous.

Second, I noticed that you put your heat emitter directly on the metal bars. Is that safe; it won't melt the plastic? I currently have mine rigged (it's safer than it sounds) on its side because I was afraid to have it touching the cage in any way.

no, it doesnt melt the metal.

everytime i check on that (i can be paranoid), the metal is barely even warm.

Tisk tisk. The liners look WAY too soft, the wheel is too safe, and the toys are too fun. Please bring it to me immediately so we can take care of this issue... ;)

Actually the wheel can take care of itself. Its not the safest choice with the mesh. Little toes can get stuck and the hedgie can lose them.

Besides that the cages look good!

I must ask, where do find the C&C supplies to build a cage like this?? I think it is awesome and is a great idea for the hedgies!
