Here's my story!

I got him today from a former breeder who no longer had time to take care of her chins. She posted the ad on Kijiji. There were 6 other chins at her house, ranging from 1 month to 10 years. I initially wanted a girl (I'll admit it's because I don't really wanna do hair ring checks..) but there were only two girls there; one was on hold (she was a sweetheart and probably would have been my second choice) and the other seemed very lethargic.

My little boy lived in a cage with his brother (only 1 month old, super cute and little) and his dad, a big black chin. His brother was cowering at the back with his daddy gaurding him, but my little boy was hopping around leaping over top of them.. I thought he seemed pretty happy and had the most beautiful coat out of all the chins.

So there's the story. So far he has been very defensive (as to be expected). He doesn't want to sniff my finger or take a treat from me, but he only occasionally will peep so I back off. He freaked out when I touched the cuddle buddy that I put in his cage.. But he did let me rub his head for a minute!

He's six months old, I'm not sure if he's an ebony or a mix.. looks more mixed to me. You take a look and tell me!

As you can tell, I have not chosen a name for him. I'm stuck between Charlie, Jasper, and Henry. So give me feedback on which name you like or suggest something else!

i'm not sure on his color. i like the name Henry though. he's very handsome though!

Hard to tell with the picture but it looks like he has a white tummy, so I'd say he is a standard.

Congratz, he is very cute!

Thanks for your comments guys :)

Sasha; that's what I thought too when I first saw him, but his entire back and top of his head is black. Maybe he could be a black velvet?

Yes, if he's all dark black with a white tummy he could in fact be a black velvet :) Though, there are some real dark standards too and his face is pretty light.. so I'd probably bet on a dark standard.

He looks like a standard to me. I don't think he has enough veiling to be a black velvet. There are different phases of standards, and he'd just be a darker phase.

Very Gorgeous Chin, I like the name Jasper as well!

Aww, congratulations! I bet you're so excited!

Don't worry about him being nervous--especially if the breeder did not have time to spend with him. He will gradually become used to your presence, it will just take time. :) it's a lot of fun to watch them come out of their shell.

I have decided with the help of your votes that I will name him Jasper. Jazz for short.
Thanks everyone :)

My family really didn't like the name Jasper so we settled on Remy :p I think it suits him well.
He is getting a lot less skittish now and he will climb up my arm if I give him a treat!
