I just had to mention this one. I just got done feeding my chins. My girls are in a two story ferret nation cage. Mother and two daughters. Of my 5 total chins, only mommy has ever had the guts to jump out of the cage from the bottom.

Until today...

This is an old pic of the second floor of the girls cage. The hut and the ledges are still in the same place. I needed to sweep off the shelf that the hut rests on. So i moved it down one notch so i could lift the hut out. The daughter Ameena was in the back left corner.

I don't no what prompted her to do this. But she did a super bolt up those ledges, on to the shelf, and did a spread eagle flying pose and she jumped right off that shelf on the second floor right out of the cage and down to the ground!

After the panic wore off, I was in utter amazement of what she just did. Maybe shes trying to show up mommy lol

That would scare me too. I would be worried about them getting hurt. Maybe more ledges would deter them from taking a flying leap.

Oh mine think they can fly too, I have a 5ft cage, only one of 4 chins would stay inside, I always have to be prepared when I open the cage door, I can usually see it when it's coming, they kinda stare at the floor and move their whiskers frantically.

Usually i can see it to. On the first floor tray they always eye up the ground, and peek over the edge. You usually know when its coming. They've eyed it from the second floor tray now and then, but they have never once actually attempted to jump off from that height. So i certainly wasn't expecting them to go even higher to the second floor shelf and try it! I'm just so glad she didn't hurt her self doing that. But she definitely scared the heck outa herself!
