How would you track an IP address?

Without going into too much detail, I got a msg on facebook from someone telling me some "need to know" information. This person admitted they created an alias. I am suspicious that this person is just causing trouble and that I might know who it is, so I am wondering how I could track any info like an IP address from the message or is that even possible?

There was a glitch on FB up until May of this year where you could find out a user's IP address, but they have since fixed this and I don't think there's any way to find one out at this time unless the person directly e-mails you.

I think the most you can do is report the message to Facebook - their help center has a variety of types of messages that call into their 'report as abuse' classification (spam, harassment, imposter profiles, etc).

How do I message facebook? There is a profile that is impostering me (has my picture, info, etc) that is friending random people. One of my friends allerted me to it when she got a friend request from them. I've reported it to facebook twice, and I've had some friends report it as well... but it's still up. Is there a way I can directly message someone from facebook?
