Ok long story short , I have this chinchilla that jumped thu a hole in our drywall - it's about a foot up the wall. He just comes out and grabs the treats and jumps back in when we try to catch him.

Does anyone have any advice on how to catch this chinchilla ?

That exact thing happen to me a while ago. I was freaking out .. So just try to relax , sit on the floor like it's playtime. I just sat with my laptop and he came out and when he was far from the hole , get up slowly and go cover the hole . It worked for me , I tried everything and he was in there for a couple hours before just relaxing . Good luckkk I hope it works

As a last resort you may be able to borrow one of the hav-a-heart safe traps from your local animal control. Just make sure to colorox that thing down extra good before you use it!!!!Also if you're a country folk like we are around here, a plain old rabbit box trap baited with applewood or a few cheerios on the string for bait works well .

I guess what I'd do is use a couple of thumbtacks to hang a handtowel over the hole, well maybe he's eat that so how about a 2 square foot piece of fleece, don't let it touch the floor and don't hammer it with nails, it'll scare him. When he finally pops out the fleece will block his way back for a second, long enough if you're right there. Be ready with something to cover the hole better while he runs around your house before you catch him.

Oh and no more treats, all those treats with no food and water will make him sick. Just offer his usual food and dust. If he has a prolonged time out you can tape a water bottle to a nearby table leg. Been there done that lol
