How much would you say it costs to get started with a chin

I'd say $225 for a extra dark eb is average from what I've seen. $300 for a violet wrap is pretty average as well, maybe on the higher end. I didn't mind paying a higher price for quality, but I know I probably could have gotten them for cheaper if I had shopped around.

IMO those are way above average prices - especially the violet wrap price. Different breeders will charge different amounts. However, saying they are rare is not valid and is not a reason to up the price of a chin. Charging for quality is one thing, but charging for a "rare color" that really isn't rare at all isn't right.

I see it all the time on CL- so just a heads up :))

The breeder didn't call them rare, I was trying to say that since they are not standard, mosaic, light ebony, BV, beige, etc that they were in a higher price bracket. I have rarely seen an extra dark ebony female listed for below $200, but maybe my geographic location has a more expensive chin-market. Anyway, the important thing is that each person pays what they are comfortable paying for each pet, while putting money aside for care.

Those prices are somewhat normal in the East PA,NJ, East NY area. Cost of living is much higher so the price of everything else is also Also want to say that if one gets a rescue with cage, the price is usually considerably lower for 'start up' cost
