I was sent this on Facebook and thought it very provocative. So I challenge all of you!

"The BBC reckons most people will have only read 6 of the 100 books here... which is pretty darn sad!

Well The bad news it that of this list that I have not read, I only want to read two.
I have read 51 of these books. Well its better then 6 right?

Good Luck all!!!

Okay... we'll I've read 26 of them! But I'm an avid reader, so it would make sense..

You're good with your 51!

I've read eight of them, am in the process of reading one, and plan to read several more. Some of them I've never heard of.

36 here.... But, I don't know if I have forgotten what I read in high school at some point. I read a lot of Shakespeare, but not everything, of course. There are many that I want to read if I can get the time to do it...and the DVDs are so tempting above reading sometimes...

I have read 40 on the list. How can they NOT have East of Eden on this list?! It is BY FAR Steinbeck's BEST work! How do they have nothing by William Faulkner? Amazing! He should be on the list! How about Arthur C Clarke? I feel there are several really good authors missing from the list! But I feel 40 is pretty darn good. I'd also like to point out of this entire list the only book I re-read is The Bible. To me these classics are tales told once and only once.

Good Luck all!!!

I've read 14 off of the list but I feel this list is kind of bogus. Listing The Chronicles of Narnia AND The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe? And Shakespeare they count The Complete Works of Shakespeare and at the end ad Hamlet? What about Caucasia or Their Eyes Were Watching God? Those should be on the list.

I guess I am only complaining because I love reading and am not the "average person" that the BBC is trying to make fun of. hehehe.

I was really surprise that I had read 51. I mean its an interesting asortment of books. There are so many that are on here that I wonder why and there are so many more that I think should be on here. I mean I'd say I'm an avid reader but I am nothing compared to one of my close friends and she'd only read 9.

I believe everyone should read stuff by Terry Pratchett because he weilds the English language like club. I've never laughed so hard reading a single sentence in my entire life.

Who knew you could read so much and still not be able to spell? Its a special talent of mine... lol!

I've only read 26 so far, but plan on doing much more, especially when I get these kids out of the house and have time on my hands!

I've read 16 of them. There are quite a few on that list that I'd like to read. Thanks for that, now I have a couple books picked out I'd like to check out when I go to the library today. (WOW that reminds me I actually have books due today, thanks for the reminder!!!!)

I noticed that most of you haven't read the Bill Bryson book. I HIGHLY recommend him. He's a fantastic travel writer with a great sense of humor. My husband and I enjoy reading them outloud together in bed and we always end up laughing hysterically. All of his books are great, although some are funnier than others.

I have read 23 that I am sure of and a couple I started but didn't finish (most notably, "War and Peace". Who could finish that one? Tolstoy is way too long winded for me. And anytime I read any John Steinbeck book I need a margarita afterwards :)

1) Look at the list and put an 'X' after those you have read.
2) Add a '+' to the ones you LOVE.
3) Star (*) those you plan on reading.
4) Tally your total at the bottom.
5) Tag the friends you want to fill this out (including the person who tagged you.)

99 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl X+
100 Les Miserables - Victor Hugo X+

Not counting them up, but I have a bit of commentary. I also changed it a bit because I couldn't choose with so few categories. + means I liked it a lot, and extra pluses indicate varying degrees of LOVE.
