I recently gave my boys their silver surfer, as Terrance hit the 6 month mark. They each run differently in the wheel. Terrance runs with his head strait in line with his body, whereas Phillip angles his head when he runs, looking outside of the wheel. Is that a normal way for a chin to run? Thanks so much!

I think each chin does it differently. My Wally speeds up, slows down and then stops. Orville runs as fast and he can and jumps off, leaving the wheel spinning quickly.

Mr. Whiskers is like a speed racer. He runs and will go even faster if I yell, "Go, chinnie, go!!!". He runs frequently and also jumps off sometimes when he is going fast and the wheel keeps spinning.

The Snuggler, however, since he is larger and heavier, takes only a tentative couple of revolutions, moving kind of slowly, almost kind of hopping, and then he's happy. He does not run faster with encouragement.

My boy Gizmo runs super super fast. The other night he scared me to death because he ran so fast and I just saw him fly off the wheel. I don't know if he jumped, lost his balance on the wheel, or what. Freaked me out.

Then my girl Macy, she steps on, WALKS forward one or two steps, stops and waits for it to stop moving and then gets off. It's really strange. I figured she just didn't know how to use it but she still does it.

My boys are complete nutters when it comes to their wheel. They run one at a time, two at a time, have relay races where they tag each other in...they would probably run upside down if they could lol. They all run like madmen, going as fast as their little paws can go. I'm honestly surprised this wheel (and the side of the cage) has taken such a beating and not fallen apart. I've seen them run straight on, but most of the time, they like to run at an angle with their face looking out of the wheel. I've also seen them hopping along in the wheel, and doing popcorn jumps in the middle of running, which is just ridiculously cute it makes me laugh. Sometimes they will hop in and out while the wheel is still spinning... which scares the bajeezus out of me cuz I think they will go flying out... but they don't. They just continue running like the crazies they are...

My one boy sits on the wheel at bedtime and the second I turn the lights out he starts running and if I turn the lights back on he stops. My other boy will wait for him to get the wheel going then kick him off and just sit on it and ride it around, when it stops he gets off and the other gets it going again then he kicks him off and rides it. He's never run on the wheel he just rides it after the other gets it going, he's not at all lazy right?

When Giz does it, he runs with his left side facing the inner part of the wheel. He'll even jump out and jump back in if he's facing the wrong way. It kinda looks like he'ws looking outside the wheel too. Oh and his big booty bounces during the ENTIRE run.

Then he gets off and eats... such a fatty.

Nova looks out of the wheel (and always faces right) at a moderate pace, YouBe keeps his head in and goes straight but like a bat outta... that Meatloaf album, and Crash has a Saucer so he goes whichever way he wants, but stays in a straight line.

I have some that run as fast as a horse then some that take it easy. Then 3 run so gracefully.

I have a flying saucer instead of the classic thing you think of when thinking of a wheel. Ferdinand will run for a short spurt- get off, check out/watches until it stops spinning, then hops back on again.
Chimney will jump down from a shelf, ride the wheel to the bottom and start running, then uses the momentum of the wheel to fly up to the top of his hidy hut (I seriously need a video- funniest thing ever but he is camera shy)

Yep oddity is the Norm. I have one that leaps along in no big hurry like she's Pepe Le Pew. Two that try to run as hard as they can in opposite directions at the same time. And one that jumps on the wheel everytime I open the cage door facing away from me running as hard as her little legs will carry her and looking back at me over her shoulder like she's expecting to get away! Sometimes I slowly move back from the cage and she stops, then I rush back in and she runs like the dickens!

Yes, I would imagine that all Chins run differently. My Snowy uses flying saucer which he angles in his head looking into the circle. He runs, stops. Then repeats this over and over 8)

I have a couple of chins that run on top of the wheel (on the outside of the wheel). Then I had one who got under the wheel and ran her feet upside down on the underside of the wheel. Silly chins

Boji runs with his head at an angle, outside of the wheel. He likes to get it going, jump off and watch it spin, then try to jump back on. Maia runs with her head inside, but doesn't feel satisfied until the cage shakes. Buddha prances on it with his head inside, going more for longevity than speed. Nixi runs at a moderate pace for 5-10 minutes a few times a day. For the most part, her head stays inside, but when she gets overexcited and goes top speed, her head's at an angle.
