How do I link a credit card on PayPal?

Ok, I occasionally buy things on ebay and (more often) supplies for Ralphie from users here, and it would be nice to pay with my CC for two reasons: 1) I won't have to wait for the e-check to clear, 2) It's safer.

I've tried to link a card before, but PayPal ALWAYS says it can't link that card, and that I either need to try again later or try a different card. Well, I've tried both my cards at all different times and it just won't do it. I even tried my check card.

Has anyone else had this problem? What should I do? Before I call PayPal I'd like to have some idea of what might be going on.

After you log in, go under "profile" and you can add/edit credit cards/bank info from there.

Is the credit card in your name? If it's not in your name that might be causing a problem...not sure though as it's been over 12 years since I did all of that.

Yes, that is what I have been doing. The problem is, it doesn't let me add a credit card.

They're in my name.

Well, that depends if you can actually talk to a human on the other end instead of a computer!

I'm actually glad this thread has been brought up because I need to do the same thing - just haven't tried yet. Hopefully I'll have better success!

Are the cards attached to any other paypal accounts? or the bank accounts? You can only attach one bank account to one paypal account.

I would try contacting the bank who issued the credit card.

I JUST had this situation arise last night - I got a new debit card that my bank attached to both my checking and savings - I called them to remove the savings from the card. They removed all accounts from the card. :cry3:

So when I tryed to link it, paypal said, um no.

Nope, the cards aren't attached to any other accounts. I only have my bank account linked.

If I'm reading you correctly, do I need to unlink my bank account before I can link my CC?

No you don't. I have a bank account and a CC attached to one of my PayPal accounts.

Make sure the billing address that the card is attached to is the exact same address that you are putting into Paypal, or they won't take it. It rejected my card originally because I put Apt #7 instead of Apt 7.
