I know we get asked this a lot and the answer is usually "smell". However, there is one other telltale sign of a chin in heat.

I present evidence picture #1 - located 3-6 feet away at a right angle from the origination point. #2 is located directly above the outlet in #1.

Then I thank myself for buying the waterproof bathroom/kitchen enamel. :D

Edited to add that it cleans up fairly quickly with vinegar, and that is the most wall coverage I've seen here before.

or I must add as this happened to me on two occasions now with the same male. Monday I had a feeling one of my standard girls was in heat. The male came flying out of his run to try to eat my hand. Same male nailed me two weeks ago with another female I saw him breeding. He had a large hair ring hanging off from him so I decided to try to get him out. (Note to oneself- do NOT attempt to take this male out while in the cage with the female that is in heat. You MUST take him out when he is in another female's cage) Anyhow, I found a plug yesterday.

I have never had a male do that before and I normally do not have any issues with him.
