Went to look at the prices of thermostats and heat emitters...expensive, and wondering if any members here sell things used.

From time to time, yes, people do. Check under the hedgehog classifieds and then the supplies wanted thread.

The thing about CHE's is that the bulbs burn out every so often, so I'd go with a new one rather than chance that it's on it's last few hours - it would be hard to know (from both the seller and buyer's perspective) how much longer a CHE has left.

Speaking of the heaters...how long does a typical one last that you have found? What watt would you recommend? They seem to go from 65W and up.
