I agree, I like the corner shelf!

For the dustbath, if you use a container with more of a lip on the bottom, it won't make as much of a mess. I use those glass candy containers like at the old style candy shops. Or also I have a large glass bowl made for floating candles. This way they don't push all the dust out. I used to use those large pickle jars, but found it wastes so much dust.

Congrats on the pair!!!

oooo nice ledges in the pictures! I really like how the corner shelf looks!
Thanks! Jeff made that shelf out of a cottonwood log split in half with another slab on the back for...what is that??? a poop guard? If so, it doesn't work ;) (notice there's no poo on the ledge? It's all on the bottom of my feet) Either way, he's a genius!

That was just the cutest picture I got of them dusting. I stood the jar upright (an old fashioned candy jar btw) and they jumped in and out from a shelf and that worked really well, but one way or the other, I'm glad I brought home 30 pounds of dust. They already are learning the sound of the lid going on or off of the jar and we are hoping that when we take them out for their first playtime, they will associate it with dusting...there isn't a thing about these boys or that these boys do that isn't addicting.
Krickett is loving being a big sister. She can see the boys from her office cage, the one she calls "the wood mill" and squaks at them when she sees them up and about. They seem totally unphased by her though. Wrong place for a pic of Krickett, I know, but after all, she's one of the family.
Here's Big Sis:

You know you're a true chin owner when you put on a pair of jeans you KNOW you just took out of the dryer and find chin poo in the pockets, find any yet?!

Wonders how many people just checked their pockets, lol.

I think those ledges might need to make it to your store ;) I am interested to find out what new products might come of you guys owning chins now!

I want the bird toys! Sparky would fall over and die from happiness if he had all those toys in his cage. And that's just her office cage??

In case you're thinking of it, I want to put my name out there first if you decide to adopt any children...................

The little poops are not that bad. You just have to keep anything that you're going to eat away from the cage. If I knock the poops out of my house shoes, they usually don't end up anywhere.

I used to let the chins run around everywhere when we lived in an apartment 10 years ago. They would leave droppings in my shoes, my purse, and pretty much in everything because Thor and Olga and Hans and Ingrid liked to torture me back then. :) Now I clean up everything twice a day and only have playtime in designated areas where I can quickly sweep up the poopies. :)

Mason and Chipper look happy...thank you so much for posting pictures. I miss those little guys. Yesterday was so hard as I was moving their cage outside. Mason really made a mess of that poor cage in record time. I hope that he doesn't make a giant mess for you to clean up constantly.

Just so everyone knows...Mason is a shredder and he has taught Chipper (little mini wood chipper) how to do the same thing. He's one of those chins that shreds up hay cubes and leaves a big pile of that in a couple places in the cage. He also destroys his hanging toys so that they have to be refilled twice a day.

Peggy - why are you wanting people to adopt you now? :p

I figure if they adopt me, then the wood and Barbi creations become familial loot and the various species here will all benefit because who could turn down giving their grandkids toys, right?

HAAA!!! I see. In that case, Barbi could just adopt me...I'm closer. The only problem is that she's not old enough to be my mother...so it might be a little weird. :) Then again, no one wants to adopt me...not even a mother could love me. LOL

Barbi brought me a ton of wood...the chins love it so much, you should see them go to town on it when I fill their toys up. Thank you so much for that, Barbi...they are loving the wood. It's almost like I don't want to waste it! They're so used to pecan and pine - the willow and other woods are just a very welcome change to the normal stuff. :)

Yes, the spoiled little birdie, huh? She's just working for her keep, the same as the new boys are going to have to do ;) Part of the contract at our house is: work hard, get more toys. Whata deal, huh? We never close Krickett's cages (except at night when we cover her up) and if she gets tired of working at the mill, she climbs down and marches through the kitchen and up the ladder into her condo. It's way too huge but doesn't have near as many toys in it...it is more of her bedroom suite/spa retreat.
Uh, no Peggy, I mean yes, you could put your name on the waiting list for adoptions, but I think we're done with children...it might be another lifetime before the waiting list is moving...but you'll be the first on the list :) And btw, Peggy, watch the classifieds; I'm putting a special on!!! I'm calling it Peggy's Special AKA Pecan and it will be another for CnH members only.

Yaaaaaaaaay! Pecan!!!!!!!

WAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mason & Chipper are just too cute. Glad they're settling in nicely for you and I'm sure you'll have tonnes of fun with them. They're the most amazing little creatures on earth and have brought me so much joy in the five years of being a chinnie slave, lol.

WOO HOO!!!

YAY, Barbi and Jeff!!! The boys look like they are settling in just fine!!!

What a lucky pair -- make that 2 pair -- you and Jeff AND the 2 of them!!! :hearts:

Congrats! They are adorable and have a great cage setup!
Thanks :) Jeff extended the long shelf under the polka dot tube by another 9 inches to make it go deeper into the center of the cage. Now its almost 16" wide. We moved their hay rack and food dish up there and that's where they come when we get close to their cage for scritches. We're having a blast with them...and their cage...lol

Cute spoiled chins and bird! Welcome to CnH! And welcome to the messes...lol! They are worth it though, chinnies are great!!
