Poppy the mosaic squibbit
Absolutely gorgeous chins. Congratulations and have fun.
Thanks! Jeff made that shelf out of a cottonwood log split in half with another slab on the back for...what is that??? a poop guard? If so, it doesn't work (notice there's no poo on the ledge? It's all on the bottom of my feet) Either way, he's a genius!Congrats on the pair!!!
oooo nice ledges in the pictures! I really like how the corner shelf looks!
That was just the cutest picture I got of them dusting. I stood the jar upright (an old fashioned candy jar btw) and they jumped in and out from a shelf and that worked really well, but one way or the other, I'm glad I brought home 30 pounds of dust. They already are learning the sound of the lid going on or off of the jar and we are hoping that when we take them out for their first playtime, they will associate it with dusting...there isn't a thing about these boys or that these boys do that isn't addicting.I agree, I like the corner shelf!
For the dustbath, if you use a container with more of a lip on the bottom, it won't make as much of a mess. I use those glass candy containers like at the old style candy shops. Or also I have a large glass bowl made for floating candles. This way they don't push all the dust out. I used to use those large pickle jars, but found it wastes so much dust.
Peggy - why are you wanting people to adopt you now?
Yes, the spoiled little birdie, huh? She's just working for her keep, the same as the new boys are going to have to do Part of the contract at our house is: work hard, get more toys. Whata deal, huh? We never close Krickett's cages (except at night when we cover her up) and if she gets tired of working at the mill, she climbs down and marches through the kitchen and up the ladder into her condo. It's way too huge but doesn't have near as many toys in it...it is more of her bedroom suite/spa retreat.I want the bird toys! Sparky would fall over and die from happiness if he had all those toys in his cage. And that's just her office cage??
In case you're thinking of it, I want to put my name out there first if you decide to adopt any children...................
Thanks Jeff extended the long shelf under the polka dot tube by another 9 inches to make it go deeper into the center of the cage. Now its almost 16" wide. We moved their hay rack and food dish up there and that's where they come when we get close to their cage for scritches. We're having a blast with them...and their cage...lolCongrats! They are adorable and have a great cage setup!
