Good morning everyone! I am new to this forum but an old member to chins-n-quills. When I previously lived in MD, I had my wonderful hedgie boy, Spike. He was wonderful and everyone on the forum was such a source of information as I researched hedgies and also need advice after adopting him. He passed on a few years ago and I have since moved to PA. As most of you know, hedgies are not allowed here, and I have been at a loss as to how to fill my hedgie void. :broken:

I spent the last 3 years being a rat rescue, and although I was happy to help those little ones, I still long for my hedgies. My husband has told me that he has always liked chins, my son wants a chin and perhaps, if I learn more about chins, I may be able to open my home up to one....or two....or lol. I never purchase any animal without large amounts of research first so I sought out chins-n-quills again to find they were gone. I am so thankful I found this forum and am happy to find another wonderful source of information as I begin my journey into learning more about these amazing furry friends.

Welcome to the forum, Glad to see you are back.

I know the feeling of being "stuck" in pa, and not able to have a hedgie. I had my girls before the law was put into place and now that they are illegal I cannot own anymore. I do miss my girls!

Chins are great, I think you'll enjoy them!

Welcome to CnH! What part of PA are you from? There's quite a few of us on here from PA, and we could even point you towards good breeders!

Welcome! I agree that thorough research before bringing an animal into your home is the way to go. :)

Thank you for all the welcomes. I feel right at home again! I am in Palm, PA....which is a spec on the map....I am amazed we have our own post office, lol. I am near Quakertown/Allentown. I drive a lot to Philly and Chambersburg area. For the right pet, I will travel.

I actually left after work one busy Friday, fought rush hour traffic to drive 2 hours to Lancaster to meet a beautiful pit girl in need of adoption. I'm glad it worked out and she is with me, but I honestly only drove that far to meet her, lol. The distance doesn't matter for the right fit for my home so please point me in the direction of great breeders.

I want to learn more and am not probably looking till at least next August as I want to let the remaining rat rescues pass in peace without any upheaval in rearranging to accommodate more cages. I figure that should give me enough time for research, and if proceeding to a purchase, get everything necessary before hand, finding the right vet, etc. I am a little OCD that way and usually have everything but the new baby before I start looking for the perfect family addition.

Look forward to talking to everyone and learning!

Rhian
